established his style uniquely.
All the special features of this
style like prominent use of
traditional mudras as depicted
in "Abhinaya
Chandrika",dominanceof 'Stayee
Bhaba', 'Hanshasya Mudra' and
application of 'Sabdaswarapata'
are remarkably clear in his
choreography. Overall,
particular combinations of 'chali,
'chahanai', 'chhata', 'beli' and
'bhramari' mark the choreography
of this style. He has created many dance dramas
and solo dance items which was
widely appreciated by audiences.
He was the first guru who
established Odissi Dance outside

Prasad Das and the right
preserver of Deba Prasad Das
Gharana. He has established
himself as an eminent guru of
Odissi Dance. Besides teaching,
research and propagation, Guru
Sri Durga Charan Ranbir has made
significant contributions to
Odissi Dance through
choreography. He has created
number of solo and group
compositions to his credit. Each
item bears the original touch of
this living legend and remains a
landmark creation in the domain
of Odissi dance form which was widely
appreciated by audiences.He
